# Domain reverification

Overleaf will automatically try to reverify every verified domain 30 days after the domain's last successful verification.

If a captured domain fails reverification for any reason, the group admin will be alerted via an email notification. If reverification fails, the domain will enter a 14 day grace period during which domain capture will remain active, providing the group administrator the opportunity to reset the Overleaf verification token as a TXT record in their DNS provider as needed.

The entry for the domain in the domain management table will show an **action needed** label on the domain

If the 14 day grace period elapses without the TXT record being correctly set, the domain verification will be marked as failed, and the capture status will revert to being inactive.

Note that during the **action needed** grace period

* The domain will remain captured;
* The group admin will have those 14 days to resolve any issues with the verification of the domain;
* We will automatically try to reverify every day;
* If re-verification succeeds during the grace period, the domain will return to the verified and captured state, and we won’t attempt re-verification for another 30 days;
* If after 14 days the re-verification is still failing, Overleaf will automatically deactivate domain capture;
* Administrators and managers can still invite users to join the subscription if domain capture is not active on a domain, and can issue invites to domains that are not verified or which have failed verification;
* Users who joined a subscription while a domain was verified and capture was active are not affected by a change in verification or capture status.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.overleaf.com/groups/overleaf-group-single-sign-on/domain-management/domain-reverification.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
